We Survived Fabian Hurricane Fabian struck Bermuda on September 5th, 2003 with sustained winds in excess of 120mph. The Steede's were blessed to escape with no structural damage to our house. We only lost a few palm trees (insignificant) and was without power for just a few days. There was widespread damage to homes throughout the island, mostly in the form of damaged roofs, and fallen trees. Two weeks after Fabian, there are still pockets of the island without power and telephone. Sadly, four people lost their lives during the storm. The four were swept from the causeway by the fierce winds and storm surge. more
