Challenges

When the Steede family website was first conceived, the intention was to produce a web presence where overseas kin of the Bermuda based family can find up-to-date information and pictures. This plan was actually fulfilled during the first six months of little Joshua's life but then things changed.

It was in April of 2001, shortly after Josh turned 6 months, that Keith got deeply involved in video-editing. Working closely with Johnathan Rogers of Summit Video, Keith started to shoot and edit weddings. Whilst also keeping his day job at Cable and Wireless, he became quite popular as a wedding videographer; subsequently, spare time became extremely hard to come by, especially if important family time was not to be neglected.

Alas, October came and the wedding season came to a conclusion. "...now let's get that website updated" Keith was heard saying. So out comes the digital camera to get some fresh pictures; however, there was an incident involving an excited 6-year old, his dad and a camera - whoops - one digital camera, lying on the floor. Result - no new pictures for the website. There was no real love loss with that particular camera, because Keith had been itching for an excuse to purchase a brand new, all singing, all dancing, digital SLR - one which would take advantage of his existing arsenal of lenses.

With shipping and duty cost quite high, Keith needed a reason to plan a trip to New York to make this important purchase, but what could possibly be convincing enough to persuade Claire to authorize such an excursion, let alone such a lavish purchase. Hence the idea of a 10th anniversary celebratory week-end get away to New York was planned. After a day of shopping for Claire, dinner, and off to the theatre to see Phantom of the Opera, Claire's heart had been softened just enough to allow Keith to enjoy the pride of ownership of the delightful camera.

Pictures taken with this new camera can be seen all over the newly designed site. This time, Keith will attempt to dedicate at least an hour each month to keep the content current. Thanks for your patience.
